Since gaining new investment in January 2020, Sandland has built a new management team (Martin Hickman – Managing Director, Jo Hickman - Commercial Director, Andy Batha - Sales Director and Robin Welch – Chairman) and developed a vision to grow the business by £5m over the next 4 years. Underpinning this strategy are investments in people, systems and equipment with a plan to enhance the business’s sustainability ethos.

We have completed our first full financial year under the new team and are delighted to report an excellent set of results even considering the effects of COVID in 2020 that impacted many of Sandland’s existing industrial clients. The business pivoted its sales and marketing efforts and opened over 100 new accounts in 2020, many in sectors that had not been served before.

Sandland generated over £1.1m profit in 2020 ploughed back into capital investment, technology and training. The company is on track to deliver its 2021 sales target of £10.5 million – a 17% increase over prior year.

New investments in apprentices and commercial trainees (6) combined with a capital equipment spend of over £500,000 and the installation of an integrated management information system will position Sandland well both for now and into the future.

Sandland Packaging is committed to sustainability through improving its impact on the environment and helping customers use corrugated packaging and reduce their use of plastic and polystyrene. Along with achieving Forest Stewardship Council (FSC)® certification, Sandland also plants one tree for every five orders manufactured. The team are setting the agenda for further improvements by changing to a renewable energy supplier from April 2022, investigating carbon offsetting and working on achieving ISO 14001.
